Artefakt investigates the fragmentation of man-made traces and their visual expression through further processing with contemporary tools. In this publication, the fragmentation of human-made traces and their visual expression through further processing with contemporary tools is investigated. In the following, experiments on visual fragmentation are explained, defined and applied to several artifacts. First, single artifacts are framed and their unchanged impression is recorded. Consequently, individual objects of investigation are fragmented and examined through five different experiments. Finally, all collected fragments are defragmented to a single final trace. The aim is to create a new visual expression by unconventional investigation of left traces and to continue this trace by processing with contemporary means.
