Narrative & Visual Concept – Place of Ascent (MER). For the event series MER – Place of Ascent, we developed a speculative narrative that centers around the ancient and still unsolved mysteries of the pyramid. MER, the original Egyptian word for pyramid, served as the conceptual starting point for a story-driven visual identity.
The core idea was the invention of a fictional species—an enigmatic entity positioned as the missing link in the pyramid’s unknown history. To bring this narrative to life, we designed a series of artifacts tied to the species, which emerged gradually through the event’s promotional campaign, mimicking the aesthetics and atmosphere of an archaeological excavation. The design language combined ancient symbolism with futuristic elements, creating an immersive world that blurred the line between myth and speculation. Visual assets were rolled out across print, digital, and spatial media to build a coherent and evolving story leading up to the event.
